Glow-Wire Test Equipment for testing as per IEC 60695-2-10

Glow-Wire Test Equipment is designed to carry out fire hazard testing as specified in IEC 60695-2-10 2000-10. Flammability test is to check the ‘Resistance to Fire’ of electrical insulators that touch directly conducting parts & also parts of insulators. Testing with regard to fire hazards can be done by creating exactly the conditions occurring in practice. However, this is not possible in most instances. Hence for this test, the actual conditions are simulated as closely as possible by the glow wire test equipment. The glow-wire test is also referred in many other standards such as IS 11000, IS 3854 : 1997 / IS 1293 :1988 / IS 371 :1999 & IS 11000 Pt 2 Sec 1, IEC 60335, IEC 884/94, IEC 60598, IEC 61058, IEC 60512, BS 6458, BS EN 60695 –2-10,11,12 and many other standards.

Comparative Tracking Index Test Apparatus for testing as per IEC 60112

Comparative Tracking Index Test Apparatus is designed to carry out the comparative tracking index test described in IEC 60112. As per the standard, Tracking is Progressive formation of conducting paths, which are produced on the surface and/or within a solid insulating material, due to the combined effects of electric stress and electrolytic contamination. And Tracking Failure is Failure of insulation due to tracking between conducting parts.
The Comparative Tracking Index Test Apparatus provides a safe method to test insulators as per the standard. In this test, an insulator is subject to high voltage with the help of electrodes and a contaminant is dropped on the insulator between the electrodes. The comparative tracking index of the insulator is thus found out.
This test is also specified in standard ASTM D3638 (Test Method for Comparative Tracking Index of Electrical Insulating Materials).

Dry Arc Resistance Tester for testing as per ASTM D495

The Dry Arc Resistance Tester is designed to carryout high voltage, low current dry arc resistance test on solid electrical insulation material as per ASTM standard D495 (Standard Test method for High -Voltage, Low-Current, Dry Arc Resistance of solid Electrical Insulation) and UL 746A (Testing for electrical properties).
Many Cases of insulator failure are due to deterioration of its surface because of sustained electrical discharge or arc. This test method is intended to test the resistance of insulating material when a high -Voltage, low-current are close to the surface of insulation, intending to form a conducting path therein or in causing the material to become conducting due to decomposition & erosion.

Dry Arc Ignition Test Apparatus

The product is designed to carryout Arc Ignition Test as per IS/IEC 60947-1 Clause 8.2.1.1.2 (material used for electrical products). The adjustable current source is 230V AC @ 40A. The load is adjusted to get 32A at 0.5 power factor. Included on control unit is Digital Voltmeter, Digital Ammeter, Digital Power Factor Meter and Micro Controller based programmable Sequence Timer with LCD display for display & setting. The arrangement is made to mount the test piece with electrodes as per the specification given in the standard.

Hot-Wire Ignition Test Apparatus

The equipment essentially consists of Variable Current Source, 0 to 10Amps at 20V max. to force current through Nichrome Wire as specified in the standard. Digital Voltmeter and Digital Current Meters are provided. Micro Controller Based Programmable Timer is provided to measure Ignition Time and to terminate the test after elapse of Time.

Millivolt Drop Tester

Millivolt Drop or Contact Resistance at any electrical contact plays a vital role in controlling the heat at the junction. Undesired or excessive drops lead to heating the junction and unreliability of the equipment or ultimately fire. This is even more serious at higher currents. The periodical checking of these drops can prevent undesired breakdown in the power system. Millivolt Drop Tester is designed for this purpose.

The SCR ELEKTRONIKS Millivolt Drop Tester is superiorly designed than the conventional millivolt measuring instruments in the sense that the current source is a specially designed solid state constant current source with a line and load regulation closer to 0.2%. Not only does this arrangement improves the accuracy of measurement but also reduces the internal active power losses. This measurement instrument is lighter, smaller & inexpensive than the competition. All models of SCR millivolt drop tester are ideal portable instruments for production quality checks, laboratory experiments & field testing.

This instrument has become a standard issue in assessment agencies, switchgear manufacturers & appliance factories world-wide including units of L&T, Siemens, Schneider, HYT Engineering, Havells, C&S and UL.
